Gray & Linen Family Room

Gray & Linen Family Room

Here is another recent mock up of my family room.  I am sticking to a lot of grays and linen texture in my design.  I recently put in an order for our section from www.buildasofa.com and I can't wait until it arrives.  I'll save the building process for another post.  I just wanted to share some of my other mood board inspiration real quick, toodles!

Makeup - Airbrush foundation and Photography

When deciding on whether to hire a makeup artist to do my wedding day makeup or not, I chose to go the DIY route and acquired an airbrush machine instead.  My makeup skills came mainly from experience and watching a lot of youtube gurus.  I was quite comfortable in doing my own makeup and especially since I'm asian, I'm not so fond of  allowing anyone who doesn't specialize in asian makeup to put my face on for such an important day -- I'm also the same way with my hair, no pun intended.

Naturally, doing makeup became another hobby of mine.  I had a chance to play 'makeup artist' for a family's wedding last year and I just wanted to show you some of the before and after photos trial run that I captured.  (I had to plead a great case in order to show these photos online :) Thanks ladies!)

I forgot to take the photo before I did her foundation and eyebrows.  The before photo (left) show the airbrush foundation in natural light.  The after photo (right) shows the finishing look with the built-in flash.

Master Bedroom - Neutral Palette Inspiration

We have an official closing date on the house! With a little over a month left before closing, seeing the house in it's final stages of development get's me really excited.  I mentioned before that I was quite nervous about my color palette for the new house.  I love me some color splash but not so certain about painting a brand new house.  As with all of my design adventures, I started a mood board (is that what they call it?) for my Master Bedroom.  I wasn't kidding when I said I was sticking to neutral tones!

A change and A New House

Hello, remember me? I’m back with a new blog template and an attempt to liven this blog [once again]! Lately, I’ve been perusing many wonderful blogs to gather inspirations for the new home that we are building. With the building process whipping through so quickly, I have been pinning everything on my Pinterest boards so that I can virtually organized my ideas. I [LOVE] PINTEREST, but I’m afraid that the social hype will die out quickly -- another topic for another blog post.

Since this is my first time building a house with a home builder, I had to do extensive research on who I’m dealing with, and the process it takes once started to completion. I was told it will take 4 months from the start of the process to my closing date. And like many others, I was in awed that anything this big could be built without sacrifice in quality. Prior to making a decision to build a house, the husband and I have visited many model homes to get an idea of what builder plans and finished we liked. Seriously though, Home Builders are just the Project Managers of the building process and they outsource the building to local contractors. There are only a set number of contractors in a city so I’m sure they all produce similar type of work. What sets these builders apart are the finishing touches and cost of upgrades they offer off of the base price and I must say they varies a lot from one builder to another.
